Lori M. Gaines earned her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Special Education. Ms. Gaines then taught students with emotional and behavioral needs in two different special education schools, first in New York City and then in San Diego. Thereafter, Ms. Gaines earned her law degree with the express intent of becoming a special education attorney. For the past 20 years, Ms. Gaines has been working in that capacity representing parents of students with disabilities in securing appropriate educational programs, placements and services from their local public-school districts.

During times of stress, particularly when your child, adolescent, or young adult is not feeling well and struggling with life and school, helping families to navigate the complexity and uniqueness of their situation is critical.

Our program seeks to help parents understand how to support their child and protect their family/family life, while also navigating – and advocating – within a complex educational and mental health system.
